One of the first questions families ask when considering a burial at sea is: how much does it cost? This guide breaks down the real cost of burial at sea in Florida and how it compares to other memorial options.
Burial at Sea Pricing in Florida
Non-attended service: $425. Captain Brad performs the ceremony privately, without family members present. Attended ceremony: $550 for up to 3 family members aboard. Additional guests are $50 each. Both services include: the full ceremony at sea (3+ nautical miles offshore), flower petals scattered alongside the ashes, GPS coordinates of the scattering location, a certificate of scattering, and EPA notification handled on your behalf. There are no hidden fees.
How Does Burial at Sea Compare to Other Options?
Traditional burial: The median cost of a traditional funeral with burial in the United States is over $9,000. Cremation with a memorial service: A direct cremation typically costs $700–2,000. Adding a memorial service and urn can bring the total to $3,000–5,000 or more. Burial at sea with Ashes at Sea Florida: $425–$550 for the ceremony itself. For families who have already chosen cremation, a burial at sea ceremony is a meaningful, dignified, and relatively affordable way to complete the process.
Is There a Separate Cost for Cremation?
Yes. Ashes at Sea Florida provides the burial at sea ceremony only. Cremation is arranged separately through a funeral home or cremation provider of your choice. Once you have the cremated remains, you contact us to schedule the ceremony.
What Is the Cost Per Guest for Attended Ceremonies?
The attended ceremony base price of $550 covers up to 3 guests. Each additional guest beyond 3 is $50. For 4 guests: $600. For 5 guests: $650. For 6 guests: $700.
Are There Any Other Fees?
No. The prices listed above are the complete cost of the ceremony. There are no fuel surcharges, documentation fees, or add-on costs.
